Hurricane Isaias to Make Landfall on U.S. Gulf Coast Friday

  • Effective Date: October 09, 2026
  • Affected Regions: North America
  • Advisory Type: Weather
Hurricane Isaias is a Category 3 hurricane in The Gulf as of Friday afternoon. The storm is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast near Alabama and the Florida panhandle overnight. Regional supply chain disruptions are possible in areas directly impacted.

TRUCKLOAD
Flooding, road closures, and power outages may lead to shipment delays over the weekend and into early next week. Freight moving through much of the U.S. Southeast, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky could experience minor delays as the storm and its remnants move inland.

LTL
Some terminal closures and limited operations are in effect as of Friday afternoon in areas around Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL. Facilities from Mississippi to Georgia and Florida may be impacted through the weekend. Any operational closures can delay LTL shipments moving into or out of the area as facilities manage freight backlogs.

INTERMODAL
Major disruptions to rail networks are not anticipated as of Friday, however minor delays are possible for shipments moving in the directly impacted area of the central Gulf Coast.

OCEAN
All ports in Sector Mobile, including Gulfport, Mobile, Panama City, Pascagoula, and Pensacola are closed as of Friday afternoon. Terminal operations will remain suspended until conditions allow for assessments and clearance to safely resume. Shipment delays can be expected for any cargo in these ports through the weekend and potentially into early next week.

AIR
Gulf Coast airports, including Gulfport, MS, Mobile, AL, and Pensacola, FL are seeing flight cancellations, schedule changes and reduced cargo capacity due to storm conditions Friday afternoon. Air cargo delays are possible throughout the Southeast U.S., including Atlanta, GA through the weekend and into early next week as airlines resume normal operations post-storm.
