What can our industrial experts do for you?
An upgrade project to BHP’s nickel operations needed careful coordination and precise timing of four shipments to avoid additional downtime. This required a well-developed logistics plan backed by people they could rely on.
C.H. Robinson recommended shipping the project modules through the Port of Baltimore, reducing over the road transport in the United States, eliminating the need for transloading, and using roll-on/roll-off to protect the freight from the elements.
Ultimately all four shipments moved as planned without any delays. The reduction in over the road transport saved an estimated $100,000 USD from the project budget. Because the logistics strategy was so well-developed in advance, the plant only shut down for a total of 16 hours from the original planned 100 hours.
