C.H. Robinson Expands Singapore Air Freight Hub to Meet Growing Market Demand

Expansion increases operational space to optimize air freight handling and support growing demand

C.H. Robinson, the leading global logistics provider, has expanded its existing operations in Singapore at the Changi Airport Cargo Terminal Complex Free Trade Zone, increasing its operational space by 200% to optimise air freight handling and support growing demand across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States.

Singapore has seen a surge in air cargo demand, with total airfreight volumes growing by 14.6% in 2024. This expansion allows C.H. Robinson to capitalise on this growth and offer enhanced supply chain solutions for businesses navigating global trade uncertainties.

The expansion supports the increased demand for air freight capacity, especially for high-value goods such as electronic and capital equipment. By expanding logistics infrastructure in Singapore, C.H. Robinson endeavours to strengthen regional trade flows, improve freight efficiency and ensure a more reliable movement of goods across global markets.

The additional operational space has already enabled C.H. Robinson to handle greater freight volumes, including multiple aircraft charter flights to the U.S. in the second half of 2024. As demand for air cargo capacity grows, this expansion enhances Singapore’s role as a key transit hub.

C.H. Robinson plans to build on this momentum by increasing freight movements across Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The expanded infrastructure aims to streamline cargo consolidation, transhipments, and exports, creating more flexible routing options through Southeast Asia. By enhancing regional connectivity, this facility is committed to delivering more reliable and cost-effective logistics solutions that optimise supply chain flows amid shifting market conditions.

“The Singapore Gateway was created to support Southeast Asian countries by offering a flexible gateway model. This model enables shipments from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia to be routed through our Singapore gateway, leveraging Singapore’s extensive air networks. This approach provides reliable capacity through alternative shipping modes, enabling end-to-end transportation services and catering to a diverse cost and transit time requirements,” said Vincent Wong, Airfreight Director for Asia at C.H. Robinson.

C.H. Robinson’s enhanced Singapore Airfreight Gateway facility will officially open on 5 February 2025.
