Meet Your Customs Broker Continuing Education Requirements with Trade Policy Training Opportunities

In today’s increasingly complex import environment, licensed customs brokers play a crucial role in ensuring compliant imports into the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now requires individual licensed customs brokers to complete continuing education (CE) credits to maintain their licenses. Staying compliant also means staying informed—and that’s where C.H. Robinson can help.

C.H. Robinson’s accredited training, provided by our trade policy team, covers essential trade compliance topics to help you meet your CE requirements with confidence.

What you need to know about CBPs continuing education requirements

CBP has implemented a continuing education requirement for all licensed customs brokers with a goal for brokers to “remain up to date on evolving customs rules and relevant U.S. trade laws to facilitate compliant trade in the modern environment, while acting as an additional layer of security against illegal trade from entering the U.S. commerce.”

Key requirements:

  • 12 CE credits per year, or 36 credits per triennial reporting period
  • CBP prorated the requirement to 20 CE credits for the current triennial period ending January 31, 2027
  • Brokers must maintain records of their CE credit hours, which can be audited by CBP upon request
