Winter Storm Mara Impacting South Central United States

  • Rangs: janvier 31, 2023
  • Régions affectées: Amérique du Nord
  • Type de conseil: Météo
Winter weather, including freezing rain and sleet with accumulation, is forecast to track across the South-Central United States through Thursday of this week.  The hardest hit metropolitan areas are expected to include Austin, Dallas, and Memphis.  While the impact of this storm is unknown, disruptions such as traffic delays on highways and widespread power outages are possible.  Expect closures to occur at shipping and receiving facilities and transportation terminals.

TRUCKLOAD
Road conditions are expected to cause traffic delays throughout the region as ice build-ups and sleet accumulation increase. There may be some temporary capacity constraints in the hardest hit areas.

LTL
Limited service and delays will include both inbound and outbound freight for Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. This disruption in service will cause some severe delays through the week and could have impacts for several weeks as terminals catch up.

INTERMODAL
Rail terminals are expected to remain open. Intermodal shipments may still see some delay due to impacts on trucks handling first- and last-mile moves.

AIR
Cargo coming into airports including Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin could be delayed.
