Winter Storm Mara, continues to cause ice and sleet accumulation across the South Central United States. Major impacts continue from Austin to Dallas, with ice accumulations causing road closures and power outages. The storm is forecast to continue North and East, moving through Oklahoma City, Little Rock, and Memphis, through the day Thursday. Expect closures to occur at shipping and receiving facilities and transportation terminals through this week.
TRUCKLOAD
Road closures from Austin to Dallas are causing major traffic delays and some capacity constraints. Many shipping and receiving facilities are closed in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Disruptions are expected to stretch from Dallas to Memphis. Below freezing temperatures on the back side of the storm may cause extended delays into the weekend across the region.
LTL
Limited service and delays continue for both inbound and outbound freight in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. This disruption in service will cause some severe delays through the week and could have impacts for several weeks as terminals catch up.
INTERMODAL
Rail terminals are expected to remain open. Intermodal shipments may still see some delay due to impacts on trucks handling first- and last-mile moves.
AIR
Many flights have already been delayed or cancelled in the Memphis area and flight delays continue for Dallas Fort-Worth. Cargo delays can be expected due to these disruptions through the week as carriers work to catch up.
