U.S.–U.K. Trade Negotiations Announced

On May 8, 2025, the White House issued a fact sheet announcing the negotiation of a new trade deal with the U.K.  Currently, products from the U.K. are subject to various tariffs including 10% IEEPA reciprocal tariff or 25% tariffs on Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs, 25% tariffs on 232 Automotive tariffs, and all other applicable tariffs. 

Key Points on Tariffs in the Agreement 

The 10% reciprocal tariff, initially announced on April 2 2025, remains in effect. 

Section 232 tariffs on UK Autos 

  • First 100,000 vehicles imported each year subject to the reciprocal rate of 10% 
  • Additional vehicles subject to 25% tariff 

Upcoming Changes

Section 232 Steel and Aluminum Tariffs

  • An alternative agreement is forthcoming, creating a new trading union for steel and aluminum.
  • Further guidance on implementation and the effective date is pending.
