The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have recently provided guidance on several trade activities.

Federal Register : Notice on the Addition of Entities to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List

 

On August 4, 2022, DHS has issued a Federal Register Notice outlining the process where the Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force (FLETF) will consider additions to the UFLPA Entity List.  Additionally, any listed entity can request removal from the list. “In the removal request, the entity (or its designated representative) should provide information that demonstrates that the entity no longer meets or does not meet the criteria” of UFLPA.

CSMS #52834229 - Information on Customs User Fee Changes Effective October 1, 2022 (govdelivery.com)

Effective October 1, 2022, among other fee changes, the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) ad valorem rate of 0.3464% will not change. The MPF minimum and maximum for formal entry rates will change. The minimum will change from $27.75 to $29.66; and the maximum rate will change from $538.40 to $575.35.

On August 8, 2022, in CSMS #52911380, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued notice of a public workshop to discuss the Beta Pilot Test of electronic filing (eFiling) of certificate of compliance data on Thursday, October 13 in Bethesda, MD.  This public workshop is open to in person and virtual attendees.  Registration is open until October 6, 2022.  For more information on importing goods regulated by CPSC and participating in the CPSC Beta Pilot test in conjunction with CBP, visit Import Resources | CPSC.gov

CSMS #52834487 - GUIDANCE: Reminder on Filing Entries of Steel and Aluminum Imports Subject to General Approved Exclusions (govdelivery.com)

Reminder: For imports from countries subject to Section 232 duties on steel and aluminum imports, when filing an entry of a steel or aluminum import under a Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification subject to Section 232 General Approved Exclusions (GAEs), report the applicable Chapter 72, 73, or 76 HTS classification. Do not file the Section 232 Chapter 99 HTS classification for the Section 232 duties.
