U.S. government shuts truck-driver training schools

Driver licence enforcement continues to tighten truckload capacity

In late August, the U.S. Department of Transportation ordered the shutdown of more than 110 commercial driver training schools tied to thousands of English-language proficiency violations. It also launched a nationwide audit of third-party commercial-driver-license testing practices. 

They are not alone in investigating driving schools. The Department of Homeland Security recently announced its own plan to pursue action against as many as 200 schools in 23 states, indicating this may be an ongoing effort, not a one-time event.
