Dear Valued Customer,
Hurricane Milton made landfall as a category 3 hurricane late Wednesday evening and tracked across the Florida peninsula. Widespread power outages and flooding due to rain and storm surge are impacting supply chains in the storm’s path. Our top priority remains the safety of our employees, their families, and all others in the impacted region. C.H. Robinson’s disaster response team is monitoring and assist emergency response needs and will continue as long as impacts remain.
TRUCKLOAD
Road closures and flooding stretch across much of central Florida and will likely impact available capacity as recovery efforts begin. Widespread power outages in the path of the storm are also likely to impact both available capacity and shipper operations through the end of the week. Your C.H. Robinson team is here to support you with alternative solutions and tracking your freight.
LESS THAN TRUCKLOAD (LTL)
Many LTL terminals are closed or have limited operations as of Thursday morning due to power outages and flooding. Expect delays for shipments into or out of much of Florida through the weekend as terminals can reopen and begin working through their backlog.
INTERMODAL
Rail terminals in the impacted area, specifically the Tampa and Central Florida ILC terminals, remain closed as of Thursday morning. Intermodal shipments into and out of Florida will likely experience some transit delays through the rest of the week as damage assessments are completed at hubs and along rail lines throughout the impacted area.
OCEAN
The Ports of
Tampa Bay and
Jacksonville are closed as of Thursday morning. Both ports are scheduled to reopen Friday, pending damage and safety assessments. Port
Everglades landside operations resumed Thursday morning and waterside operations are expected to resume Thursday pending channel and berth damage surveys. Port
Miami and the ports of
Savannah and
Charleston are open with no restrictions.
AIR
Some flight cancellations continue Thursday morning at central Florida airports, but major cargo impacts are not anticipated. Any additional flight cancellations at Miami International may result in minor shipment delays for cargo there.
