Section 301 Action: Semiconductor Tariffs Delayed till 2027

On December 23, 2025, the U.S. Trade Representative delayed any new Section 301 tariffs on semiconductors imported from China until June 2027.  This action follows a 2024 Section 301 investigation into China’s practices in the semiconductor industry.

Tariff Measures

• Effective Date: December 23, 2025 
• Coverage: 18 8-digit Harmonized Tariff Scheule (HTS) codes related to semiconductors from China 
• Initial tariff: 0% 
• Delayed Tariffs Till: June 23, 2027 (rate to be announced at least 30 days prior) 

Scope 

These tariffs apply to a wide range of semiconductor products and components. 

Additional Tariffs

Tariffs are in addition to existing 50% tariffs imposed under the previous Section 301 investigation related to forced technology transfer.

The USTR will continue to monitor the situation.
