Senior Instructional Designer

Primary Location: Eden Prairie, MN United States of America

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to create innovative learning experiences that build critical capabilities and drive business results. In this role, you will partner with HR, business leaders, and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps, define clear learning objectives, and deliver solutions across eLearning, video, web-based materials, and instructor-led (virtual and classroom) formats. Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assess learning needs, clarify requirements, and translate business goals into measurable learning objectives
  • Design, develop, and maintain blended learning solutions (synchronous and asynchronous) including eLearning, video, and instructor-led experiences
  • Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices to create engaging, performance-based learning
  • Partner with HR, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to gather content, validate accuracy, and align on outcomes
  • Facilitate effective design and content reviews, incorporating feedback to meet quality and timeline expectations
  • Ensure learning solutions are accessible and aligned to design standards and branding guidelines
  • Use evaluation strategies (e.g., surveys and measurement plans) to assess effectiveness and continuously improve curricula
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, timeline, and quality standards, communicating progress and risks as needed
  • Stay current on learning trends and recommend process or system improvements that strengthen the learner experience
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members and contribute to a culture of learning

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience and high school diploma/GED
  • Minimum 4 years instructional design and development experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • Experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise)
  • Experience with training methodologies such as adult learning theory, the ADDIE process, Agile methodology, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the Kirkpatrick model of evaluation and measurement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to consult, influence, and partner effectively across levels
  • Ability to assess needs and translate information into clear, learner-relevant business context
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts and processes to varied audiences
  • Ability to design innovative blended learning experiences with a focus on the end-to-end learner experience
  • Strong project planning and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cross-functional initiatives
  • Continuous improvement mindset and pragmatic, strategic thinking to enhance the employee and learner experience
  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment

Compensation Range

$70,200.00 - $111,000.00

The base pay range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for this specific location.  Your individual base pay within this range is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base pay only and do not include additional variable compensation.
