U.S. diesel prices hit year-low in April

The national U.S. average diesel price per gallon of $3.57 in April is down from $3.59 in March and still lower than the $4.00 average from April 2024. Continuing the trend, this marks the 26th consecutive month of y/y decreases in fuel.

The price per gallon was on the rise at the end of March and into April, increasing 9 cents nationally. This increase was a temporary worry for carriers—fuel decreased in the remaining weeks of April, closing out the month at the lowest amount year to date.
