Dorothy G. Capers is Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at C.H. Robinson. In this role, Dorothy reinforces the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance, ethics and integrity in all our practices. Dorothy has deep senior leadership experience in complex and dynamic operating environments, working closely with CEOs, Boards, and leaders to drive business strategy and commercial impact.
Before joining C.H. Robinson, Dorothy served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Xylem, Inc., a Fortune 500 water technology company with a market cap of $30 billion. Prior to that, she was the Global General Counsel at National Express, a UK-listed transportation firm with $3.5 billion in revenue, where she expanded her litigation experience to include mergers and acquisitions, commercial and regulatory matters, and contributed to the growth of the 106-year-old company. Prior to National Express, Dorothy was Associate General Counsel for US Foods, Inc., responsible for the Legal Department’s Litigation and Bankruptcy/ Finance teams. She was also a member of the team leading US Foods through a proposed merger with Sysco Corporation.
Before US Foods, Dorothy worked extensively as a litigator in the state, county and local government as well as in the private sector for law firms and corporations. Her government experience includes her leadership as a Deputy Corporation Counsel with the City of Chicago and as a prosecutor for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
Dorothy is on the Board of Directors for the Chicago State University Foundation. She earned her J.D. from Howard University School of Law, Washington D.C. and B.A. from the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL.
