EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA, March 28, 2024– Global logistics company C.H. Robinson has been named to Fortune magazine’s list of America’s Most Innovative Companies. This prestigious awards list, presented by Fortune and Statista, is comprised of 200 companies that ranked the highest in a holistic evaluation of innovative activity and that are “transforming the industry from inside out.” C.H. Robinson earned just one of three spots on the list in its sector, and it ranked highest among its peers for its innovative and collaborative culture.

As the logistics industry continues to evolve rapidly, C.H. Robinson remains dedicated to delivering creative solutions for its 90,000 customers and 450,000 contract carriers. Over the past year, C.H. Robinson has contributed to the industry through innovations like:

  • Touchless appointments: An industry-first technology that automates the pick-up and delivery of freight to create greater efficiency in freight shipping.
  • New electronic bill of lading: The first 3PL to adopt an electronic version of the essential BOL shipping document to boost efficiency and reduce errors for the less-than-truckload (LTL) sector.
  • Enhanced CO2E Emissions tool: A technology tool that enables shippers to more easily cut emissions and create more sustainable supply chains.

“This award is a true testament to the forward-thinking expertise of our team, who anticipate and solve our customers’ and carriers’ challenges every day,” said Dave Bozeman, President and CEO of C.H. Robinson. “Robinson’s new phase of growth means we are fit, fast and focused to continue to spark the innovation that moves the industry forward.”

C.H. Robinson is using generative AI to build on its technology platforms and to improve the customer and carrier experience. With more data and history than any other 3PL, the company has several workstreams in motion to deliver process improvements to customers. By using generative AI for processes like quoting and order entry, C.H. Robinson can help reduce manual touches and improve response time for customers.

“Technology drives innovation and the transformative power of AI is clear – we've already seen positive results, enhancing both internal operations and customer service outcomes,” said Arun Rajan, Chief Operating Officer for C.H. Robinson. "Logistics is a fast-paced industry, and we are moving quickly to deliver digital solutions to improve outcomes for customers and carriers. We are excited about the initial results of our GenAI work and are focused on pioneering new ways to create speed and accuracy, boost service, and promote on-time deliveries while eliminating manual processes.”

Fortune and Statista selected America’s Most Innovative Companies 2024 based on product innovation, process innovation, and innovation culture. For the evaluation of the innovation of culture and the internal view of process innovation, Statista deployed online surveys where employees could score their own company on a scale system. For the evaluation of the external view of process innovation as well as product innovation, Statista surveyed industry experts in various fields – from recruiters to management consultants and patent attorneys. For the evaluation of the IP portfolio, Statista cooperated with LexisNexis PatentSight and used its platform to analyze the quantity and value of a company’s patents. The 200 U.S. companies with the highest score were awarded America’s Most Innovative Companies 2024. The full list can be found here: America's Most Innovative Companies 2024 | Fortune.
