CHICAGO, IL (February 25, 2016) – C.H. Robinson, one of the world's largest third party logistics providers, today announced that its Chicago Central office donated nearly $100,000 in 2015 to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Over the last 10 years, C.H. Robinson has donated more than $1.2 million to Lurie Children’s.

Each year, C.H. Robinson’s Chicago-based employees champion year-long fundraising initiatives on behalf of the hospital and directly contributed nearly $30,000 of the total donations made to the hospital in 2015. The employees led nearly 30 individual events in the past year to raise money and awareness for Lurie Children’s Hospital including volunteering for the annual MIX Radiothon on the Eric & Kathy Morning Show. In addition, the employees have recognized November as “Children’s Awareness Month”, coordinating and championing a variety of creative fundraising activities to collect donations.

Lurie Children’s, formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital, provides the highest quality, family-centered care to children. In fiscal year 2015, it cared for more children than any other pediatric hospital or system in Illinois. With a 130-year legacy, Lurie Children’s was ranked as one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals in 2015 by U.S. News & World Report.

“This partnership, driven by our people, has organically grown over the years, many of our employees and their families have personally benefitted from care provided by the nurses and doctors at Lurie Children’s. We are immensely passionate about the organization,” said Sydney Wilson, C.H. Robinson Learning & Development Specialist and head of the Lurie Children’s partnership. “C.H. Robinson is committed to supporting the philanthropic pursuits and interests of our employees as they volunteer, donate, and give back to their communities around the world.”

C.H. Robinson employees also sponsored and participated in Run for Gus, a community race named after Gus Evangelides, who passed away from a malignant brain tumor at the age of 21 months. Run for Gus raises funds in support of the thousands of children battling brain tumors, with proceeds benefitting research and support services for children with brain tumors at Lurie Children’s.

“C.H. Robinson’s support has helped fund the areas of greatest need within the hospital, including programs that could not exist without philanthropy,” said Erin Coleman, Lurie Children’s assistant vice president of corporate giving. “Their generosity has helped provide Chicago’s children with the best health care possible and, with it, the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.”

C.H. Robinson is Chicago’s largest logistics company and has doubled its local headcount since 2005. C.H. Robinson’s nearly 2,000 Chicago employees account for almost 15 percent of its global workforce—more than any other market where the company operates.
