Chicago, IL, Nov. 15, 2010 — Transportation Management Center (TMC), a division of C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc., has continued the rollout of its worldwide Managed TMS® services by adding a control tower operations center in Mumbai, India.  C.H. Robinson is a one of the largest third party logistics (3PL) companies in the world, providing global multimodal transportation services and logistics solutions.

The new facility provides TMC customers with Managed TMS® and control tower services in one of the world's emerging trade superpowers.  This addition extends the coverage of TMC's global Managed TMS® services which already encompasses North America, South America, Europe, Africa and portions of the Middle East.

Headed by General Manager Adam Davis, the new center in Mumbai will serve international customers as well domestic shippers in India and South and Southeast Asia.  It will also facilitate transportation management in Pakistan and the Middle East.

"The addition of a TMC control tower in India will allow our global clients to have greater visibility to their supply chains. They will be able to tap into local expertise to reduce costs and create more efficient regional and worldwide distribution networks.  Our clients will be able to leverage the information and consulting that we provide to make strategic decisions in order gain a true competitive advantage," said Davis.

At the core of the control tower concept is a blend of TMS software and managed services that TMC and Managed TMS® has taken to a global level. "As our clients wrestle with the challenges of managing their global supply chains, from an organizational design and technology perspective, we want to position them to have global capabilities balanced with meeting the needs of a specific geographic region," said Jordan Kass, Executive Director of TMC.

As companies continue to build an integrated supply chain to support their international growth, a crucial component is to create a single platform for optimization, shipment visibility, business intelligence, and freight payment.  "We supply the services that provide visibility and move information quickly and accurately so that companies can manage distribution networks in extremely diverse geographic markets," Kass said.

The combination of the Mumbai location along with TMC control towers in Chicago and Amsterdam will provide large multinational shippers with the right tools to manage their global supply chains.  Further, the solution will also allow for ease of integration and use at regional levels.

C.H. Robinson offers Managed TMS® services through TMC, a global business unit with offices in Chicago, Amsterdam, and Mumbai. TMC does not generate revenue by handling freight. It provides fee-based services for technology deployment, day-to-day TMS operation and ongoing process optimization. TMC introduced the concept of "Managed TMS" to the global marketplace in the late 1990s. Managed TMS® Services provide shippers with expertise and technology that drive both immediate and sustained cost savings throughout their transportation networks. Core components of this service include Six Sigma-based process engineering, advanced TMS technology and onsite TMS power-users, who serve as an extension of the shipper's staff.  Over the past 10 years, TMC has exceeded client expectations for savings, productivity, supply chain improvements, and carbon footprint reduction.  For more information, visit http://www.mytmc.com/.
