Additional session: Dealing with Uncertainty in Transportation

When: Monday, Oct. 2, 2–3 p.m.

Where: Coastal 2

About: Freight transportation is a derived demand subject to uncertainties across the supply chain, including demand, supply, timing & weather - risks that result in capacity challenges & rate variability. While traditionally, shippers have tried to control rate variability through extensive use of annual RFPs, the pandemic showed that isn't sufficient. Session to explore how shippers can identify potential uncertainties and employ a balanced smart transportation portfolio to minimize total cost and mitigate risk and will include research from MIT’s Center for Transportation & Logistics FreightLab and DAT.
