C.H. Robinson is looking for a Senior Manager of Tax. In this role, you will oversee federal and state income tax compliance, manage tax provisions, and drive process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and overall effectiveness. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize tax workflows, streamline reporting, and ensure compliance in an evolving regulatory environment. This position is critical for ensuring compliance, supporting strategic planning, and contributing to financial analysis—aiming to minimize tax liabilities and support business growth.
This is a hybrid role with two days in the Eden Prairie, MN office (typically Mondays and Tuesdays) and three days working from home.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage the income tax provision process in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 740
Lead and oversee federal and state income tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings
Develop strategies to enhance overall tax function efficiency, optimizing workflows and reducing risk
Conduct tax research, interpret regulations, and provide strategic recommendations
Partner with finance teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and planning
Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including Legal, Accounting, Treasury, and both internal and external auditors
Stay current with evolving tax laws and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance
Advise leadership on tax implications of business activities, including mergers, acquisitions, and investments
Manage and coordinate tax audits, including preparing responses to information requests from regulatory authorities such as the IRS
Maintain thorough documentation and records of all tax-related correspondence and filings
Perform other duties or responsibilities to support the business and Finance department
Leadership Responsibilities
Build a deep understanding of team members’ skills and abilities
Align individual passions with potential; provide consistent feedback, development opportunities, and recognition
Ensure alignment with C.H. Robinson’s strategic objectives and communicate office, divisional, and organizational initiatives to drive understanding and alignment
Manage and meet budget requirements while maximizing efficiency
Manage annual merit and equity programs for assigned teams to align compensation with performance
Encourage and act on employee feedback to foster a culture of trust, open communication, inclusivity, and continuous improvement
Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned, depending on team and/or country-specific requirements
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 7 years of tax experience in a large corporation or public accounting firm
At least 3 years of experience managing, mentoring, and coaching team members
Ability to travel up to 5% of the year, domestically and/or internationally
Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws, ASC 740, and tax provision methodologies
Preferred:
Proven success in optimizing tax functions and improving process efficiency
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to resolve complex tax issues
Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams
Master’s degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D.
Certification as a CPA and/or Enrolled Agent (EA)
Experience responding to IRS and other regulatory inquiries
Background with a national or large regional accounting firm
Ability to motivate and drive change in a large, dispersed organization

Compensation Range
$118,000.00 - $196,400.00The base pay range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for this specific location. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
