Director Regional Sales - North America Surface Transportation

Robinson is currently seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director Regional Sales to lead and drive our sales initiatives across the North America Surface Transportation (NAST) Great Lakes region. As the Regional Sales Director you will oversee a diverse team across Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana, including sales resources, Business Development Managers (BDMs), and sales leaders. Responsibilities:

  • Own accountability for the performance scorecard of Senior Salespeople, Strategic Salespeople, Sales Development Representatives, and Business Development Managers, ensuring they meet and exceed sales targets
  • Ensure alignment between NAST go-to-market initiatives and the sales activities of the team, optimizing strategies within the region
  • Work closely with Great Lakes leadership to identify optimal locations for new business opportunities and support strategic placemen
  • Align with product and service line BDMs to leverage available resources effectively, maximizing win rates
  • Act as the executive sponsor for select high-value accounts within the region, fostering relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Directors (RSDs) to develop and implement NAST-wide sales initiatives that drive growth and enhance market presence
  • Focus on the professional growth and development of team members, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to enhance their skills and performance
  • Identify opportunities for sales process improvements and implement best practices to streamline operations and increase efficiency
  • Establish and monitor sales quotas and goals for the team, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of sales leadership with an emphasis on consultative sales in the transportation & logistics industry
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct people management experience
  • Proven ability to define a regional or multi-location sales strategy
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (primarily within the Great Lakes region)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a sales director or similar leadership role in a sales environment
  • Strong track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align sales efforts with broader company initiatives
  • Experience with sales process improvement methodologies
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to inform decision-making
