U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued recent notices regarding the deployment of updates to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for de minimis entries. Effective July 25, 2024, CBP will require the filing of an Estimated Date of Arrival (EDA) for type 86 entries, assisting CBP with the September 29, 2024, enforcement of the de minimis import limit of $800 per person per day. CBP has additionally provided guidance on invalid consignee names and the proper filing requirements on the manifest, advising that programming will return an invalid consignee message.
On July 22, 2024, CBP announced the upcoming adjustments to customs fees based on the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for fiscal year 2025 which begins October 1, 2024. Among other fees changes, the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) will be increased to minimum MPF of $32.71 and maximum MPF of $634.62.
