Eden Prairie, MN, April 21, 2011— FoodSource, a C.H. Robinson company, has relocated their South Texas operation to a multi-temperature zone facility in Edinburg, TX.

The state-of-the-art facility, catering to tropical fruits, Texas grown produce and temperature controlled shipments offers 58,000 square feet of total capacity along with 13 dock doors, six of which are refrigerated.

"Customer demand outgrew our previous space and a full service facility allows us to expand our efficiencies and further support our customers' needs," said Mike Castagnetto, sourcing manager.

In addition to expanding C.H. Robinson's capabilities and offerings in South Texas, the service center will help minimize the challenges associated with importing and exporting fresh produce. The facility is located within the free trade zone and can serve as a consolidation point for transfers throughout the country. Daily shipments will also depart from Edinburg, TX and head directly to C.H. Robinson's northeast service center in Bethlehem, PA.

"Growers and shippers looking to shorten transit times to the northeast and as a result, increase product freshness will benefit from our new facility," said Gary York, C.H. Robinson general manager.

The Edinburg service center will also offer various value-added services such as customs brokerage, product staging, inspection services, palletization and repacking. The repack room is organically certified by QAI and is conducive for unique packs and private label items.

"This new state-of-the-art facility adds to our capabilities to meet our customers' growing needs for packaging options, consolidation and supply chain management," said Ray Griffin, FoodSource sourcing general manager. "It is another innovative tool to assist in bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to our customers in a timely and cost effective manner."
