ITC determines aluminum extrusions do not harm U.S. industry

  • Rows: November 04, 2024
  • Affected Regions: North America
  • Advisory Type: Tariff

Dear Valued Customer,

On October 30, 2024, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that imports of aluminum extrusions from several countries are not materially injured or threatened with material injury to U.S. industry. As a result of this negative determination and the investigation, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) will not issue antidumping or countervailing duty orders for: China, Columbia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.

Commerce had previously determined that aluminum extrusions were being sold at less than fair value and had been subsidized by the Chinese, Indonesian, and Mexican governments. In order for antidumping or countervailing cases to proceed, both the ITC and Commerce must both issue positive determinations for injury or potential injury.

The ITC is expected to issue a report on December 10, 2024 with additional information on the investigation and direction to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
