LEXINGTON, Ky., Jan 11, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Tempur-Pedic International Inc. (NYSE: TPX), the leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of premium mattresses and pillows worldwide, today announces an alliance with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC®) to provide mattresses to the more than 160 Houses throughout the United States.

"We're honored to have a meaningful role in the wonderful work that this charity does for families, not only here in Lexington where we first got involved, but now, all across the country," Mark Sarvary, CEO of Tempur-Pedic International, explained. "Tempur-Pedic is dedicated to helping people get their best nights' sleep every night, but we know this can be particularly challenging for parents and other caregivers. We're so pleased to be a part of this valuable undertaking helping families stay together, rest together and support each other in their times of need."

Tempur-Pedic began outfitting four U.S. Ronald McDonald Houses with beds in 2009. In 2010, an additional 30 to 40 Houses will receive Tempur-Pedic beds, meaning more than 32,000 families this year will be able to get the sleep they need to support their children. By the end of 2013, the plan is for all participating U.S. Houses to have Tempur-Pedic beds.

"We know that children heal better and faster with their families nearby, and Ronald McDonald Houses are there to provide all the comforts of home to these families in need," Marty Coyne, president and CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities, added. "Tempur-Pedic, as the most highly recommended mattress brand in the country, will allow the families to get the quality sleep they need so they can focus on what's most important - their children."

Tempur-Pedic enlisted the help of logistics and transportation provider, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHRW), to help them plan the most efficient distribution of the beds over the next four years. Once they learned about the initiative, C.H. Robinson offered to arrange transportation of the beds, and donate the associated cost.

"We are very excited to be using our logistics expertise and resources in an effort that will benefit so many communities," Tim Manning, vice president of C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. stated. "Most importantly, we are proud to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities and their mission to provide comfort to families when they need it most."
