EPA Issues Compliance Advisory

On March 7, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #55388253 to share the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s compliance advisory alert on importing pesticide devices. This advisory provides important information about “producing, distributing, or selling pesticides devices” in the United States. These imported products are regulated by the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). “Non-compliance of EPA regulations can lead to CBP hold, detention, issuance of a Stop Sale, Use or Removal Order (SSRUO), seizure and/or the assessment of civil and/or criminal penalities”.

UFLPA Region Alerts FAQ Updated

On March 10, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #55423161 advising the updated Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Region Alert FAQ’s have been updated on CBP’s website. The UFLPA Region Alert goes into effect on March 18, 2023. This alert will provide “an early notification to importers and their representatives of goods that may have been produced in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang or XUAR) and may be excluded from importation into the United States”.
