This December, pets in 40 animal shelters on the east and west coast had a more joyful holiday. Halo, Purely for Pets and FreeKibble.com, Halo’s non-profit partner, distributed 400,000 donated pet food meals to animal shelters across the country. Halo is a pet food supplier with a large emphasis on philanthropy from co-owner Ellen DeGeneres, a celebrity known for her commitment to animal welfare.
Our C.H. Robinson Chicago office helped Halo complete their coast-to-coast “tour”—Halo’s largest donation of the year. In December, C.H. Robinson donated a portion of the freight costs and arranged dozens of deliveries from the two full truckloads of pet food. Each truck carried 20 tons of pet food.
“C.H. Robinson helps us deliver over 1 million meals of Halo Spot’s Stew to shelter pets every year, but this holiday effort—delivering 400,000 meals to 40 shelters in 12 cities coast-to-coast in a one week period—was especially challenging,” said David Yaskulka, Vice President Marketing Communications for Halo, Purely for Pets. “Your whole account team rose to the occasion. Thank you for your partnership on this Kibble Drop, and on all our logistics.”
We’re happy to be a part of this generous pet outreach program. It wouldn’t have been possible if everyone didn’t do their part to make a good opportunity even better. I would especially like to recognize the hardworking drivers—Derrick Dorsey and Lester Daniel Huston from Western Express—who outperformed our expectations and charmed everyone on the tour.
The best present we received in this effort was from a volunteer from one of the food recipients, Homestretch Hounds, who declared, “This is the best Christmas ever!”
