Shelley’s Story

Before I started working at C.H. Robinson, I found myself at a job that was neither enjoyable nor the right fit for me. When my husband, who was already working at C.H. Robinson, alerted me to a job opening for a business analyst, I jumped at the chance to work in a more positive and challenging environment.

Even though I didn’t have much experience in the logistics industry, my previous job experience in client support and account development prepared me for my new role. After I was offered the position, I had to learn the logistics industry and how the IT systems enabled C.H. Robinson to manage their logistics services. Today, I put my knowledge and experience into action on a daily basis. Being a business analyst requires me to work with both business executives and developers in IT and serve as a liaison between the two.

I’ve seized many different opportunities during my tenure at C.H. Robinson, including two lateral job moves. As similar business analyst positions would open up in other departments, I weighed the pros and cons of switching roles. I wanted to learn new systems within our IT department, and I knew that working with a different group of people would also allow me to grow and expand my skills. I’ve felt supported each time I’ve made a job shift. And even in my current position, I still feel like I have plenty of room to grow.

C.H. Robinson has not only supported my changes within the workplace, but they have also supported the changes in my personal life. After the birth of my son, it was important for me to make family a priority while I continued to work full time. C.H. Robinson is an extremely family-friendly organization that promotes having a balanced life. Becoming a mom was definitely an adjustment, but C.H. Robinson was willing to be flexible and accommodated my needs.

C.H. Robinson has allowed me to grow in my career and continues to meet my needs on a professional and personal level. I plan to stay at C.H. Robinson for a long time. I love going to work every day, and I see great potential to grow with the company in the years to come.
