Kevin’s Story
Before working at C.H. Robinson, I was a busy outside contractor. I worked on everything from developing data-driven websites for small businesses to custom applications for greeting card, hotel, and produce distribution companies. After doing some initial contract work for C.H. Robinson that was successful, they offered me a permanent position. I was ready to transition to a more secure career situation, and I felt that C.H. Robinson was the right place to start because they had the focus, experience, and initiative that I had been looking for.
My experience as an independent contractor helped prepare me for working with the IT systems at C.H. Robinson, and I was excited to start applying my skills to their systems. Even though C.H. Robinson’s systems were a different technology than I had used before, the core concepts of system analysis, design, and development carried right over.
There is rarely a dull moment in this job. I am proud to be involved with a company that cares about improving its systems and wants to keep a strong competitive edge. Our IT services are a key factor in C.H. Robinson’s competitive advantage. We continue to innovate and enhance our systems to grow with the business and be ready for its future needs.
To say I’m challenged in my job is an understatement. Every day presents opportunities to learn new things, whether it’s learning more about the business or examining how new technologies might improve our systems. We continually look for ways to anticipate and exceed the needs of a highly entrepreneurial branch network. There are challenging projects on every level. Enthusiasm and teamwork are so important. There are lots of opportunities to make a difference here and help continue the growth that C.H. Robinson has seen over the last 100 years.
