Jennifer’s Story
I began my career at C.H. Robinson in 2005 as an account manager in the Intermodal Division after graduating from college. Instantly, I enjoyed the fast pace and team-oriented environment. As an account manager in the intermodal office, I focused primarily on servicing the needs of our domestic network while building strong relationships with the major railroads in the U.S.
In 2007, I pursued an opportunity to work in the Global Forwarding Division at the Chicago International Branch. The idea of being able to service my customers on a global level was very exciting, and it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. My main focus began as an air export account manager. Though my focus still remains on air freight, I have a significant role taking ownership in the development of the accounts I manage on a multimodal level.
My title in both offices has been account manager, but my responsibilities and skill set have developed and changed during my time with C.H. Robinson. This year, I assisted with two major projects that took me far from my desk in Chicago. In the Fall, I accompanied a key customer to Spain to review the customs security profile of their supply chain. Also, just this Spring, I spent some time in Hawaii setting up operations for a major project moving goods from four of the Hawaiian Islands. The campaign planning involved preparations for both ocean and air freight and making sure the cargo moved smoothly to the final destinations.
In addition to the daily coordination of international shipments and in order to meet the requirements of my customers, it is also necessary to stay informed and knowledgeable about the global transportation market. Because no two customers are exactly alike, every day presents different challenges and the opportunity for creative solutions.
After being with the company for five years, I am confident my career is moving forward with the right company for me! I look forward to building relationships with my customers and also with the
C.H. Robinson team. I know my role will continue to develop and change, but I am confident that each new experience will only further develop my skills and career.
